Stop or Go in the Target Zone

چکیده

The eye and brain develop coordinately during the period of photoreceptor axon ingrowth in the larval stage. The spatiotemporal pattern of ommatidial differentiation in the eye (posterior earlier than anterior) results in a temporal pattern of photoreceptor axon arrival in the brain. In the eye, new ommatidia initiate differentiation at the anterior (left), while older ommatidia add additional cells (R1–R6 in blue). The initial R8 cell (red color) sends its axon into the brain first; its growth cone (colored red) transits the lamina en route to its medulla target (e.g., the most anterior axon shown). The outer (R1–R6) photoreceptors send their growth cones (blue color) along the expanding ommatidial fascicle. The R1–R6 growth cones travel along the R8 fiber into the lamina (the middle fascicle shown). As shown for the most posterior fascicle, the R1–R6 growth cones stop between the layers of epithelial (E-) and marginal (M-) glia (green color). The R8 growth cones meanwhile have traveled on, beyond the lamina to their deeper targets in the medulla layer.

Prediction of Driver’s Accelerating Behavior in the Stop and Go Maneuvers Using Genetic Algorithm-Artificial Neural Network Hybrid Intelligence

Research on vehicle longitudinal control with a stop and go system is presently one of the most important topics in the field of intelligent transportation systems. The purpose of stop and go systems is to assist drivers for repeatedly accelerate and stop their vehicles in traffic jams. This system can improve the driving comfort, safety and reduce the danger of collisions and fuel consumption....

Identifying and Analyzing Stop and Go Traffic based on Asymmetric Theory of Driving Behavior in Acceleration and Deceleration

Stop and go traffic that leads to oscillate traffic flow frequently is observed on congestion flow. Unexpected reasons such as lane – changing maneuvers, lower speeds of leader vehicle and moving bottleneck cause stop and go traffic and amplifying delay and environment impacts. Stop and go traffic exactly can’t be modeled by traffic models, and also car following models based on kinematic flow ...

How Useful Are Early Economic Models?; Comment on “Problems and Promises of Health Technologies: The Role of Early Health Economic Modelling”

Early economic modelling has long been recommended to aid research and development (R&D;) decisions in medical innovation, although they are less frequently published and critically appraised. A review of 30 innovations by Grutters et al provides an opportunity to evaluate how early models are used in practice. The evidence of early models can be used to inform two types...

Analyzing Stop Time Phase Leading to Congestion Based on Drivers’ Behavior Patterns

Traffic oscillation, stop and go traffic, is created by different reasons such as: sudden speed drop of leader vehicle. Stop and go traffic commonly is observed in congested freeways results in traffic oscillation. Many theories had been presented to define congestion traffic based on laws of physics such as: thermodynamics and fluid. But, these theories could not explain the complexity of driv...

Long-latency TMS-evoked potentials during motor execution and inhibition

Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) has often been used in conjunction with electroencephalography (EEG), which is effective for the direct demonstration of cortical reactivity and corticocortical connectivity during cognitive tasks through the spatio-temporal pattern of long-latency TMS-evoked potentials (TEPs). However, it remains unclear what pattern is associated with the inhibition of ...

Countermanding saccades: evidence against independent processing of go and stop signals.

In a stop signal paradigm, subjects were instructed to make a saccade to a visual target appearing left or right of the fixation point. In 25% of the trials, an auditory stop signal was presented after a variable delay that required the subject to inhibit the saccade. Observed saccadic response times in stop failure trials were longer than predicted by Logan and Cowan's (1984) race model. Sacca...
